Compete. Compete. Compete.
As long as this team can compete with the best of them, it’s hard to get upset. Especially when Houston Sports has enjoyed such a fruitful week. What We Learned Houston Rockets Edition: Game 35.
My immediate reaction to this game, like many others was being offfended at how bad Jalen Green played… again. This spottiness is going make me do some bad things. I can’t take much of this anymore.
It seems like the rest of the team outside of Cam Whitmore, Alperen Sengun, and Fred VanVleet didn’t even bother to show up.
Cam Whitmore is 14th in the #NBA in points per minute. (0.8)

He’s efficiently averaging 8.1 PTS through 10.5 MPG. pic.twitter.com/bwt3u8QrAE
At this point, it feels like Cam might just be the most efficient player in all of the league with his “11 points in 10 minutes” kind of numbers every night. Does he deserve a starting gig for a night or two to change things up? Who’s to say. I’m with it though.

There isn’t enough to say about the consistency with Alperen Sengun at this point. Here’s another league great in Bam Adebayo with high praise for the young superstar.

While it feels great to know you have a guy like this on your team where most others would dream of a scenario like this, it hurts knowing the execution won’t be there every night for a young team like this.
That’s life though. The foundation and pieces are being set to make this team great in the future. Though we went 1-2 in that tough stretch, it makes it a lot better to deal knowing we won against Milwaukee and kept up against a tough Miami team on the road.
This now begins a long road trip with relatively easier opponents than we are used to seeing, but the excecution has to be there. I know there is Philly and Boston on that schedule, but 3-2 has to be the baseline. The season is chugging along and if we want to compete for a playoff spot, it’s time to show out on the road and avoid those early season struggles the squad was facing up until December.
The Rockets are in Chicago to face the Bulls tomorrow and I can’t wait for the Alex Caruso revenge game. Shoutout College Station for raising a dawg. 40 piece incoming.
See y’all then. What We Learned Houston Rockets Edition: Game 35.
