Happy Valentine’s Day! Who is ready for more streaming dullness? If so, then you have a date with “The Gorge” this evening. Directed by Scott Derrickson and starring Miles Teller alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, “The Gorge” is a brand new horror romance brought to us by a little company you know as Apple Studios. Following two expert tactical snipers, they form a bond while completing their mission of preventing a strange evil from rising. While this may sound unique and acute, “The Gorge” unfortunately falls short of everything it is trying to be. And I’ll tell you one thing; this movie definitely does not know what it is attempting to be. With a half cooked creature feature plot line and a conveyer romance that isn’t as fully delivered , “The Gorge” is another example of our current streaming purgatory.
Not Feeling The Love

“The Gorge” as mentioned before stars Miles Teller and the amazing Anya Taylor-Joy as our two romantic leads. The word “romance” isn’t being overused either. This film sets out to be true blue love story with a meet-cute and everything. The only thing is that it the love story isn’t totally formed. At least to what it could be. Miles Teller is totally fine in this and Anya Taylor-Joy provides her usual charisma. Together, they have some cute and fun moments, but it is absolutely hollowed out by it’s pacing and staleness. The chemistry just hits on every generic beat it needs to stay afloat as the co-main driving point for this Valentine’s movie. Teller and Taylor-Joy are not given a lot and then when they are thrown a bone, it’s met with the other boring co-main point. The other purpose of this movie being half assed; it’s a science fiction creature feature botch job. The CG monsters are hardly felt and are created in a pool of generic beat hits. Half of the romance and half of the sci-fi together creates a film that feels halfway made.
Movies Will Never Look Different Again

In a technical sense, “The Gorge” is just an ugly mess. Not a single well directed action or horror set piece in this one, with every frame being flooded with flat CG and lazy fantastical elements. The entire film looks like a green screen and features nothing good to look at except for Anya Taylor-Joy herself. Even the narratively significant creatures themselves are uninteresting and routine looking. There is a feeling of hindrance in every frame of “The Gorge” and it becomes quite uninteresting at a certain point. “The Gorge” even wastes Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross on boring scenes that never develop. There is just not much visually and audibly appealing here with “The Gorge” and it is sorely missed. Potential is hidden under this mask, but it is never shown unfortunately.
Just more straight to streaming averageness and low effort.
Should You Watch It?

For lovers and viewers who yearn for a dumb popcorn flick, “The Gorge” is perfectly acceptable horror romance! It does offer some amusing moments from Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy (answer DM) while offering shoot em’ up action. Albeit a little long, fun for many and there is nothing wrong with. Beyond that there is nothing more you can derive from “The Gorge.” It’s flatness is felt throughout and can become sluggishly delivered as the disappointing third act crawls. As the youth says: mid.
Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! Pour a glass of wine, put a steak on the skillet, and have a time. But remember to always…

I totally agree. Unwatchable, except for Anya Taylor-Joy.

Descrição horrível, me desculpe.
Deixo o desafio. Assista, volte aqui. E diga quem está certo.
