New Rivalry Trophy Alert! “Battle of the Basins”

When North Dakota State joined the Mountain West, some College Football fans wondered whether it would add new rivalries to the FBS. Now we finally have one: North Dakota State vs. Wyoming. This weekend will be the first of the “Battle of the Basins” series sponsored by the North Dakota Petroleum Council.  The trophy itself has a wooden base displaying both logos and a drill bit on top. It’s a great idea for a traveling trophy due to both of the state’s oil production.

The first meeting will take place this Saturday at 2:40 pm CST in the Fargodome. The only other meeting between the two schools took place in 2008 when the Cowboys defeated the Bison 16-13 in Laramie.
