The Best World Series Mascot Matchup

The Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies begin the World Series Friday night, but the real matchup we should be talking about is the mascots.

Friday night the World Series will begin as the Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies face off for all the marbles. I’m not here to write about that matchup. The best World Series mascot matchup that that we’ve ever seen is the one between Orbit and Phillie Phanatic.

Apollo Media’s @midzee4 brought up one of the most important parts of this year’s World Series. Truth be told, I had never thought of this prior to seeing the tweet, but my goodness, it might just be something special. Can Orbit and Phillie Phanatic travel to away games to have a lightsaber duel on the field during the seventh inning stretch?

Two giant green mascots that no one truly knows what they are. Obviously I’m biased towards Orbit. He’s on my Mount Rushmore of mascots in professional sports. Luckily for this matchup, Phillie Phanatic also happens to have a spot on my Mount Rushmore.

The dude is elite. Just take a gander at this clip of Phillie Phanatic destroying the ESPN office.

First of all, laugh out loud moment when Phillie Phanatic sticks his tongue out at the wedding picture on the desk. Next, putting a huge sharpie X on a picture of Skip Bayless is a huge W. Dunking on a guy walking through the hall on an office mini hoop. Everything about this video epitomizes what Philly fans usually come off as. Destructive, passionate, and crazy. We also stan a king that doesn’t like ESPN.

As Astros fans, we all know how incredible Orbit is. I just hope that we get to see the face off on the field between these two giant, green creatures. Nothing would give me more happiness.
