Failure to Launch: Rockets lose 3rd in a row and fall to 2-12

The Houston Rockets drop yet another game and their record now sits at a lowly 2-12.

Your Houston Rockets are the only team left with less than three wins so far this season and, in addition, this is their 3rd straight loss against the Los Angeles Clippers this season. It seemed as though every time the Rockets gained some momentum, the Clippers punched them right in the mouth. Rightfully so, the Rockets’ defense was atrocious this evening.

This team stinks…right now

The Rockets’ defense absolutely failed us tonight as they fell to the Clippers 122-106 and, to be honest, this was one of the worst games I’ve seen this season. The defensive effort in this game isn’t what I’d call ideal and the team just looked completely discombobulated as a whole. Outside of Kevin Porter Jr. running the 2nd unit, to start the 4th, he just didn’t seem to be all there. He shot a horrid 6-18 from the field, 0-4 from 3, and 8-15 from the charity stripe. One of my main concerns coming into this season was KPJ taking advantage of his opportunities at the line and tonight, unfortunately, was the antithesis of that.

Jalen Green NEEDS 4th quarter touches

Jalen Green only taking 2 shots, in the 4th, is just ABSURDLY unacceptable in my eyes. In the 4th quarter minutes, KPJ took a bulk of the shots. I understand, in terms of him finding a rhythm, but my guy needs some wherewithal. Jalen, again, was the hot hand this evening and just seemed to be ignored down the stretch. Stephen Silas needs to start being held accountable for these decisions and it’s his job to make sure that these guys find him.

The hierarchy is obvious and it’s tiring to see the team be aloof to who is your most transcendent player. It blows mind since his stat line pops off the page to the tune of 25 pts, 6 rebs, and 7 assts. Jalen’s playmaking was showcased a bit more tonight, especially in his 2 man game with Aleperen Sengun. As we move forward, we need to find ways to showcase them more and allow KPJ start to play off the ball just a tad bit more. However, that remains to be seen.

Unfortunately, at 2-12, all we can hope for is to gain confidence moving forward. Although this game didn’t have much takeaway, in that department, hope is still there. We are young and hungry and this team wants to win. We’ll see moving forward if Silas can make the necessary adjustments to get Jalen going, in the 4th quarters, cause if he doesn’t, then maybe a change is on the horizon.
