If A24 Made a Houston Astros Season, It’s This One (A Slow Burn)

The Houston Astros and A24 both have a few things in common. Since around 2015, both have become the class of their respective industries while experiencing high amounts of success and ultimately becoming what their competitors want to be.

Are you still reading? Do you want to read this still?

Yes? Okay, cool. Hear me out.

here is the logo

If you don’t know what A24 is, allow me to enlighten you. It’s this crazy film distribution and production company that is responsible for many quality films. These films range in genre and tone, but the emphasis on quality and uniqueness is prominent. This prompts many casuals to declare that these films can be bad or boring. When they actually have a point once the whole story is told.

I made some shit bold and italicized for a reason.

The Houston Astros are in their A24 season.

This team has had a slow and what many consider a “bad” start to the season. Floating right around .500 while adding more and more players to the IL is not what we expected. The start certainly does not look good or what we expected.

That’s the art of the Slow Burn, baby.

Each season for a MLB team is a story. How your story ends is dependent on a lot of things, but definitely not the beginning. This is a high quality team with amazing management behind it.

A “slow burn” is described as a story that takes it’s time to unravel. More and more layers get revealed as time winds down. While the story starts, many feel that it could be confusing, unexpected, or even downright bad. Once the full story is told, a satisfying ending is revealed where most can find levitation. Now, you understand the connection to kinda pretentious, high quality films, right?

What we need to realize is that nothing is over. The story has just begun. This has been a slooooooooooooow start to the season and most know that, but more layers are being revealed (and more will get revealed) as we continue this journey.

I’m confused just like any other fan, but isn’t that the beauty behind it? We don’t know where this wild horse will ride, but we’re hanging on for dear life and trusting it. More than likely, this will be a patient path to a fantastic ending.

Watch it. Enjoy it. Allow this A24 slow burn baseball team fever dream tell you its story. The ending might be worth it.

Cheers, y’all.

Watch movies. Watch baseball.
