The Houston Astros are on a four game win streak and are 7-3 in their last 10 games. Those are things that Astros fans are used to seeing with this team throughout the Golden Age. The pitching has been better, and during the Astros sweep of the Chicago Cubs, the bats woke up and carried a couple of games. Oh, and guess what? Jose Atluve seems to be on his way back to the lineup. Scary hours indeed.

While the Oakland Athletics are more focused on moving to Las Vegas, they sit at 10-35 on the season. They’re 15 games back of the Houston Astros, and aren’t going to competitive any time soon. Usually that means that they will win this series against the Astros in Houston, and fans will be cancelling the season on our timelines.

Oakland will be throwing Ken Waldichuk, J.P. Sears, and Kyle Muller. Since this is the first time the Astros are playing Oakland this season, I can fully admit I’ve never once heard of any of these guys. Even with the injuries that have decimated the Astros starting rotation, they should have the advantage over the weekend.

The Astros will have Brandon Bielak, Hunter Brown, and Framber Valdez on the bump in that order. Bielak has stepped up and done his best in the absence of Lance McCullers Jr., Luis Garcia, and José Urquidy, and obviously Brown and Valdez are DUDES so I feel comfortable with this weekend’s rotation.

Jose Altuve may just be joining the team this weekend, but we don’t know that officially as of early Friday morning. If he comes back, then that lifts a huge weight off the rest of the lineup’s shoulders. The spots in the lineup that are struggling will be able to move down to their proper positions. The spots that are thriving will now have Altuve batting in front of them to add to their RBI totals. It’s a win-win situation.
