The Arizona Cardinals have released wide receiver Deandre Hopkins after months of strong trade rumors. Since arriving in the desert, Hopkins has flashed his dominant play style just like he did for the team that drafted him in 2013. With the Cardinals seemingly trending down, Hopkins being released makes sense for both parties. Now the question remains; where will Deandre Hopkins sign in 2023? Do not get your hopes up, but perhaps a homecoming is possible.
It is clear that the Houston Texans have a clear direction now they made changes across the board including hiring DeMeco Ryans and drafting C.J. Stroud. Potentially adding Deandre Hopkins would mean the world for a talented, inexperienced rookie quarterback. Hop would be the clear number one in a younger receivers room.
Deandre Hopkins will still be a dominant target as he is still only 30 and his hands are still sticky as hell. The familiar face will also be a sight for sore eyes and will quickly become a fan favorite once again. Get asses in those seats.
The next question is this; would D-Hop want to return or sign with a Super Bowl contender? Rumors have been swirling that Hopkins would love to join the Bills or Chiefs to have a shot for a ring. Being that he has never won one, that would make sense.
Again, don’t get your hopes up. A return to Houston would be amazing for the team and fans, but a lopsided relationship in Hopkin’s perspective. A fun thought, but certainly not in the universe’s plans. We will be the first to spread the word if plans change.
