In spite of the weather cutting the race short, NASCAR saw yet another exciting bit of racing as the high banks of Atlanta featured tight racing and plenty of drama. William Byron managed to claim his series-high fourth victory of the season and will look to add to his total at the Crayon 301 from New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Though it frustrated me to see the action cut short and I felt that NASCAR’s decision not to go green sooner resulted in a bit of a disappointing finish, I do appreciate the decision to protect the drivers and avoid a situation like last year at Daytona.
Now NASCAR heads to the flat turns of the just-over-a-mile-long track of New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Once again, the specter of weather looms large over the weekend’s events as rain could cut short or delay the race for a third straight week. NASCAR’s best will hope to get this race in as scheduled and find a way to victory lane.
Entry List
Looking at the entry list, one driver really stands out to me for success at NHMS. Christopher Bell finishes at or near the top spot in just about every race he’s ever run at New Hampshire across multiple series. I’m not expecting anything different on Sunday for the Crayon 301. Bell and fellow JGR teammates Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr. will run near the front. Kevin Harvick finds himself tied for the all-time win total at the track and I’d expect him to be a factor as well.

Will the weather allow for a full race? I’m not sure but I have my fingers crossed. As for the on-track product, NHMS runs like a short track. Unfortunately, short-track racing has been the weakest aspect of this NextGen car. I have my fingers crossed that the streak of exciting racing will continue. My hopes, however, are not high.

NASCAR does have a stacked weekend of racing with Whelen Modifieds, Xfinity, and Cup action all on the docket. Be sure to check out the schedule below so you don’t miss any on-track action! As mentioned above, keep an eye out for potential weather delays.
