The Houston Astros have been narrowing the Texas Rangers division lead for about a month now. Last night, after a walk-off single from Yainer Diaz, the Rangers’ division lead is down to just two games. I can’t remember how large their lead was at one point, but I do remember Astros Twitter (or X now?) was burning down. Anyways, the bad boys of baseball are coming.

The weekend before the Fourth of July, the Astros marched up to Arlington and took three out of four games from the Rangers. Three weeks later, the Silver Boot series is in Houston, and the Astros have a chance to take over the AL West in demoralizing fashion.
Yordan Alvarez is on the way, and will be joining the Astros either for Tuesday’s game or Wednesday’s. The Death Star is getting reinforcements from within the organization, and the trade deadline is officially a week away. Baseball fans should be worried, and Rangers fans should be praying.
This has been one of the more frustrating seasons of the Golden Age, but the Astros have an opportunity to turn the next two plus months into some of the most memorable regular season baseball that we’ve watched. With Yordan on the way this week, and Jose Altuve nearing a return, the Astros are going to be real scary. The bad boys of baseball are coming.
