James Harden: “Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of. Let me say that again: Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of.” pic.twitter.com/AmHJ0WwbF2

It’s been well documented over the years that James Harden and Daryl Morey have been nearly inseparable. Morey traded for Harden to bring him to the Houston Rockets from the Oklahoma City Thunder at the beginning of the 2012 season. Morey then traded for Harden again to bring him to the Philadelphia 76ers. Best buds. Or, at least we thought so. Wait… James Harded said WHAT about Daryl Morey?
The NBA offseason is always filled with drama, surprise, and backstabbing. It’s just part of what the league has become ever since LeBron James‘ “The Decision”. I’m thoroughly a big fan of all of it. It’s a combination of reality TV with sports, how can one not love that? Shams Charania tweeted (x’d?) early Monday morning a video of James Harden calling Daryl Morey a, “liar,” and he’ll never play for an organization that Morey works for again. Uhhhhh, what’s happening?
It seemed as if all last season that James Harden was destined to come back to Houston to play for the Rockets. Neither the Rockets or Harden really tried to hide that fact. I’m sure before the Ime Udoka hire that there was a handshake agreement for Harden to come back to Houston for a max contract and live out his NBA days in his favorite city.
Rockets fans were split on this decision, but Udoka appears to be adamant about not having Harden on his team. Harden opted into his last year of his contract with Philadelphia in hopes for a trade to the… Los Angeles Clippers.
That trade has yet to materialize and the 76ers have taken Harden off of the market. I would not be surprised to see the fat suit that Harden wore in 2019 make a comeback out of his closet.
