Chas McCormick has an incredibly infectious personality. The dancing, the laughing, the messing around in the dugout, along with his incredible play in the 2023 season has started to turn him into a bit of a phenomenon. He’s finally taken a good bit of control of the starting centerfield spot, and continues to rake at the plate. The summer of Chas continues after he hit two homers agaisnt the Boston Red Sox Monday night. Not to be dramatic, but I would die for Chas McCormick.

For the last two seasons, a good majority of Astros fans have been begging Dusty Baker to make Chas McCormick the every day starting centerfielder. After a few months of mixing it up with a number of different players, Chas has taken a stranglehold on the position.
Chas McCormick has only played in 83 games so far in 2023, and has blasted 19 homers, and stolen 13 bags. His OPS+ is 149 (league average is 100), and his OPS is .917 which pretty much means you’re elite. Chas has been nothing short of elite over the summer.
The Astros have struggled with injuries to superstars from the lineup to the pitching staff. The season hasn’t been as smooth as Astros fans are used to, which has caused more scrutiny towards a lot of players. The only problem most fans have with Chas is that he doesn’t play enough.

It’s fairly clear when watching games that Chas is a certified DUDE. He’s essentially good for a hit per game, and at least one incredible outfield play. Don’t y’all remember his catch in the World Series last season?

Chas has been a blessing to this team throughout the season, and I’m incredibly excited to continue the summer of Chas all the way into the postseason. Not to be dramatic but I would die for Chas McCormick.
