Jake’s Gambling Pit: Week 2

2023 Season Record: 3-5 (-2.4 Units)

This is the week we get back on the right track. I have 3 LOCKS while you are enjoying the games this week.

Iowa -4 at Iowa State

This is an easy one. Iowa State only returns half of their starters from last season and Iowa is better on both sides of the football. Kirk Ferentz still has a stout defense and the offense will be improved with Cade McNamara and Erik All transferring in. The Hawkeye offense is a punch line on the internet, but they win this game comfortably.

Nebraska +3 at Colorado

This isn’t a “hate Deion” pick. I truly believe Nebraska gets the win outright in Boulder. The Buff’s offense looked amazing in week one, but the Husker defense looks more disciplined and sound this year. The biggest battle will be between the weaker side of the ball for each team, Nebraska’s offense vs Colorado’s defense. I anticipate a Husker offense that will make fewer mistakes after it cost them the game against Minnesota last week. This is also a “fade the public” bet, with 93% of bets putting money on Colorado. Give me the Huskers.

Texas A&M -3 at Miami

The Aggies were bad last year, but the Hurricanes were worse and don’t have near the amount of talent Jimbo Fisher has returned. Tyler Van Dyke continues to struggle but Texas A&M has found their quarterback in Conner Weigman. Also, look for the Aggie defense to suffocate the Hurricane offense. Love the Aggies to win convincingly and send a message to the rest of the country that they are legit again.
