Winners
Texas
Longhorn Nation, Texas is back with the most impressive win of 2023 after beating Alabama in Tuscaloosa 34-24. Steve Sarkisian’s defense looks to be improved, and the Longhorns are making noise early in the College Football Playoff race.
Colorado
It’s time to have a second helping of crow. Colorado takes care of business again. They wore down the Nebraska defense that got almost no help from the offense. Sanders and company took over the second half through the air and never looked back. Fans shouldn’t have stormed the field but the team deserves to be in the winner’s circle of week 2.
Washing State
Wazzu completes the Wisconsin sweep as home underdogs. It was a tremendous scene in Pullman, and held the Wisconsin run game to under 100 yards. Jake Dickert is in his third year and the Cougars are looking to build their program even bigger. The Big 12 needs to pick these guys up!
Losers
Texas A&M
At halftime, I thought Texas A&M was going to run away with this game. Unfortunately, the opposite happened. The Aggies suffered a fourth-quarter implosion and College Station is rumbling about Jimbo Fisher’s buyout. Just when the offense looked like it was turning a corner, the defense looks to be breaking at the seams.
Northern Illinois
The Huskies should be competing for the MAC title (they very well still can) but the offense having 3 turnovers killed the momentum. Rocky Lombardi is a dynamic quarterback but his poor decision-making and the Huskie run game cost them a game against an FCS opponent.
Colorado Fans
Storming the field as a ranked favorite against an unranked team that has been down for almost a decade is a bad look. It’s great Buff fans are going to games again, but let’s have a little more awareness.
