Jake’s Gambling Pit: Week 4

2023 Season Record: 8-9 (-.9 Units)

Finished 4-2 last weekend, and we will be riding the momentum into the green.

Florida State at Clemson +2.5

After Clemon’s embarrassing loss to Duke, and Florida State’s 3-0 start, the Seminoles have been crowned the favorites of the ACC. This is the perfect spot for the Tigers to remind the Noles, in Death Valley, who the king of the conference has been for the last decade. Look for Clemson’s defense to get pressure on Jordan Travis, and force him to commit a key turnover in the second half. Florida State’s defense gave up 457 yards of offense to Boston College. Dabo Swinney’s offense has been rough to start but this can be the week to get it right vs a top 5 opponent.

Texas Tech -6 at West Virginia

The Mountaineers had a huge win under the lights in the Backyard Brawl last week, and the Red Raiders got their first win after a tough 0-2 start. This is going to be a hangover for West Virginia, with a motivated Texas Tech that wants to prove the off-season expectations weren’t a bunch of smoke. I anticipate the Mountaineers to be pretty one-dimensional considering they have a backup quarterback who struggles to stretch the field. Tech is more talented and is going to jump out early. Love Red Raiders to cover.

Iowa at Penn State Under 40

All “Iowa’s offense is bad” jokes aside, this should be an easy under for a few reasons. 1) The Hawkeyes have one of the best defenses in College Football. I predict that Iowa will snap Penn State’s +30 points scored streak, and may force their first turnover of the year. 2) They are calling for rain during the whiteout. This could lead to the Nittany Lion offense not being as sharp. 3) This is an Iowa offense going up against a good Penn State defense. The spread is sketchy so take the under.
