Jake’s Gambling Pit: Week 6

2023 Season Record: 12-11 (+.8 Units)

After going 3-0 last week, we are back in the green!!!

Oklahoma vs Texas -6

The Red River Shootout/Showdown/Rivalry is must see College Football every year. It’s a great showcase of the sport we love. Both teams come into this game 5-0 but the outlook on each is different. The Longhorns are ranked 3rd after a giant win on the road against Alabama, but the Sooners are a little under the radar, as an undefeated ranked 12th. I’m not sure Texas is completely “back” however they are battle tested, and are a more complete team. Look for the Longhorn offense to stretch the field and really give the Sooners their first real test for this year. I like Texas to win by a touchdown, and win the Golden Hat.

Washington State at UCLA -3.5

This is the classic “spread makes no sense” game, and we have to play it. Washington State has a Heisman darkhorse quarterback in Cam Ward, and are 4-0 going into the Rose Bowl to play UCLA.  The Bruins are are 3-1 and haven’t really beaten a quality opponent. To make it even more bizarre, the offense looked atrocious against Utah. On the other side, the Cougars have wins over Oregon State and Wisconsin. For UCLA to be over a field goal favorite, someone has to know something. I side with Vegas every time. Bruins by 4.

Alabama at Texas A&M +2

This line also may look a little surprising but if you break it down it really isn’t. Alabama has struggled a bit on the offensive side of the ball which matches up well for an Aggie defensive line is one of the best in the country. Look for their front to pressure Jalen Milroe and force him out of the pocket to make throws on the run. A&M will be without Conner Weigman but Max Johnson has a big arm, and has shown that he can be a fulltime starter in the SEC. Take the Aggies to cover, to give you a little cushion incase Alabama squeaks one out in front of a hostile Kyle Field.
