The last night in Texas basketball blog will recap each game played by the Texas NBA teams throughout this NBA season. The Spurs have Wemby, Luka is still doing Luka Magic in Dallas, and the Rockets have hope for the first time since James Harden left town. It’s time for Texas to rule the NBA again.
Last night in Texas basketball: Luka Magic, and Spurs win in OT. It was a wild Friday night in Texas as all three of the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, and Dallas Mavericks were in action. The Spurs and Rockets managed to battle all the way to overtime and Luka scored 49. Shocker.

The battle for Texas basketball started Wednesday night as the Spurs lost to the Mavericks in a close game. Friday night in San Antonio the Spurs looked to even their record up against the Rockets. Victor Wembanyama is one of the most incredible players to watch because of his sheer size and ability on the court.
The is alley oop sort of pass that may or may not have been intended for Wemby in the first quarter was one of the many moments that stuck out in this game for him. I stand at a staggering 5’8″ (on a good day when I stretch) and Wemby’s dunk looked like me dunking on a seven foot goal. Unreal.
We witnessed the Spurs doing typical Spurs thing Wednesday and again Friday night. The pace of play is through the roof, and they swing the ball around the court like it’s the Tim Duncan mid-2000s Spurs. Scary hours.
The Rockets had a little lead late in the third and even late in the fourth quarter, but they could never pull away. Alperen Sengun was the huge standout for Houston in my eyes. He was all over the place on offense where he was drilling jump shots, and working down low in the post. He even had some monster dunks later in the game.

The Spurs prevailed in OT 126-122 as the Rockets start the season 0-2 and the Spurs move to an even 1-1.
Houston Rockets Top Performer Last Night
It’s gotta be Alperen Sengun. He finished with 25 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists in 41 minutes. He was the focal point of the Rockets offense and probably will be throughout the rest of the season. He’s a dawg.

It’s Devin Vassell for me. He had numerous huge jumpers at the end of the shot clock to get the game super close in the third and fourth quarters. He also finished with 25 points like Sengun. He added three rebounds and 2 assists to his total, but he pushed the pace and hit some big shots for the Spurs en route to their OT win.
Dallas Mavericks outlast the Brooklyn Nets Friday night
Let’s move onto Dallas where the Mavericks faced off against the Brooklyn Nets. It was a reunion game due to the Kyrie Irving trade that happened last season. Fan favorite Dorian Finney-Smith and Spencer Dinwiddie came back to Dallas for the first time since the trade happened. Of course on a homecoming game there had to be some Luka Magic.
He'll always be a 10 in our book.

The Mavericks team construction has been…interesting. People doubted the Dereck Lively II pick in the draft this past summer, and he’s been a super addition to Dallas after just two games. The trade for Kyrie Irving last year was an addition of a superstar, but one that hasn’t shown that he can stay on the court for a multitude of reasons. No one knew what Dallas was doing to help Luka Doncic out. However, there are no worries in Dallas because Luka Magic is still a thing.
The Nets had a tiny lead throughout most of the game until later in the fourth quarter. But you all know last night in Texas basketball was a doozy for all three teams. Luka put up a 30 point triple double in the first game, so you may ask yourself, how could Luka outdo that performance? Well, a 49 point game might pique your interest.
Luka Magic struck a high point when he nailed three threes in the last two minutes or so of the game to seal the deal for Dallas. The last three was the most magical of all of course because how else would Luka Magic wow the crowd at this point?

Late in the shot clock, getting double teamed, basically only being able to throw the ball towards the rim with one hand. None of those things are a problem for Luka Doncic apparently. We’re just two games into the season, but Luka Magic is in full effect.

I mean, do I really need to tell you who it was? Luka Doncic.
