That is how you close out a fucking game.

Your Houston Rockets have begun a win streak. Let’s get in to it. Game 5 of 82 what we learned: Houston Rockets edition.

Immediately out the gate, Jabari Smith Jr. was hooping his ass off, finishing with 13 in the first quarter. Shots are getting chucked, but they are going in? What is happening right now?

The squad got the lead going and never looked back.

Avoiding the ugly isn’t what we do here, so let’s get this out of the way.

Jalen Green and Fred VanVleet were shooting straight tour dates out there going 4-10 and 7-22 respectively, BUT this isn’t where the story ends. In crunch time, Jalen Green gets four much needed assists and FVV hits two threes to make this game out of reach for the De’Aaron Fox-less Kings team. and the squad wins 107-89.

Let’s talk good. No, let’s talk greatness. That man is Dillon Brooks. He scored TWENTY-SIX POINTS IN A WIN shooting 9-14, gets 9 rebounds, and only 1 turnover? What world are we living in? This is absolute mayhem.

Al-P has his usual near triple-double game and here we are. 2-3 on the season and couldn’t be happier after these last two team outings.

Here’s what we learned:

Jalen Green, for the first time ever, or at least in a long time has had the opportunity to take a back seat and move the ball at the end of games. Doesn’t it feel nice to have more than one or two scoring options down the stretch?

This team battled through a tough third quarter, with both teams only scoring a combined 27 points and closed out in a professional, veteran way. Money had to be spent this offseason and you are seeing it work out in real time. It might take a while, but back-to-back wins is a great start.

Dillon, I, along with the rest of Houston, have actually never said anything bad about you. We are so glad you have been the locker room leader and as efficient as you have been.

26 points, clutch threes, a clutch assist, and defense out the ass. Dillon Brooks is really a players player. Can I say he’s your favorite players favorite player yet?

Just did, fuck it.

What really struck me was Dillon Brooks calling Jalen Green a sponge in the post-game interview. If Jalen can ingest all of this information given and help where needed with this new talent around him, it’s time to start putting it in to practice.

Regardless, we love a supportive teammate and a guy who will stick up for his squad when one is having a tough shooting night.

No, but genuinely, I have become such a Dillon Brooks fan over the past week. Don’t worry, you are early. There are still plenty of seats available on the bandwagon.

FVV moved the ball incredibly well last night, but something has to get figured out in regards to his shooting. We are home for the next four games, the offensive work has got to start translating soon.

Give Toyota Center something to lose their heads over, Freddy.

Jabari has been efficient over the past two games and is hooping his ass off. Is it finally time he makes the next leap? Let’s hope so.

This was a great defensive win and something that should really set the tone as to what we want to see from the team going forward. Let’s get it going for the next set of games.

Your win-streaking Rockets will take on the Sacramento Kings again on Monday. Here’s to three wins in a row, y’all. Game 5 of 82 What We Learned: Houston Rockets Edition as the Rockets are officially on their first win streak of the season.
