It’s the Big Ten’s media week, and DeShaun Foster kicks it off with a memorable moment for all the wrong reasons. In the opening statements coaches usually talk about the current state of their program, and what to expect from them this upcoming season. DeShaun Foster either “blanked” or just “winged it”, and fans got this viral moment.

However his day did not end. He addressed the viral moment and expressed how he is not a “big talker”, but it was authentically him. Foster shared that he believes he can have that type of personality because of his experience in the NFL.
“I’ll probably get on Twitter and see some jokes later, but I haven’t seen it yet. … It’s me! I can’t be something that I’m not. So it’s just tough for me. I’m not a big talker.”

He also spoke with a writer from Iowa about playing in the Rose Bowl on a Friday night in November. Here you can see he is more personable. Joking around, and even praising Tavian Banks.
I asked UCLA head coach Deshaun Foster what he knows about Iowa. He referenced Tavian Banks, and then asked the assembled media what they know about UCLA.

He also took a little shot at Oregon when comparing the NFL to College athletics. Saying that Oregon “doesn’t have a salary cap”.
“There’s a salary cap. Well, Oregon doesn’t have one, but we do.”

Not exactly sure if DeShaun Foster fully made up for his bizarre opening statement, but throughout Big Ten media day he opened up, and showcased to Bruins fans that he can be relatable. Will it lead to wins? We will have to wait and see.
