Jake’s Gambling Pit: Week 2

Week 2 of College Football is here, and I am LOVING the slate this week.

Duke vs Northwestern -2.5 O/U 37

Both teams are 1-0 after week 1. Northwestern defeated the favorite to win the MAC and Duke blew out FCS foe Elon. I’m low on the Blue Devils coming into this year. Manny Diaz will help Duke keep their identity as a defensive unit, but the offense will struggle. Northwestern is coming off an incredible 8-5 year. The Cats were picked to finish last in the Big Ten and played hard-nose football with a few bounces going their way. Expect this game to be a low-scoring slugfest, with Northwestern giving Duke the realization that they are still in a rebuild.

Northwestern -2.5 Under 37

Texas at Michigan +7 O/U 42.5

Michigan’s defense and Texas’s offense will be a fantastic chess match. The Longhorns however hold a giant edge with their defense, as they take on the Wolverine offense that still needs time to gel. It doesn’t matter how good Michigan’s defense is, they will be worn down by the fourth quarter which is when Texas will cover the spread.

Texas -7

Iowa State at Iowa -3 O/U 35.5

You have to bet the Under. Iowa has one of the best defenses in the country, and the Cyclones aren’t a slouch either. With both offenses known to be “clunky”, the Cy-Hawk Showdown is a yearly under bet.

Under 35

Tennessee vs NC State +9 O/U 60.5

Dave Doeren has done a great job at NC State. He has turned the Wolfpack into a consistently solid program, and a potential giant killer to Florida State, Clemson, and Miami. Unfortunately for them, Tennessee will be meeting them in Charlotte. The Vols are bringing a ferocious pass rush and a high-powered offense. NC State is most likely going to get out classed by talent.

Tennessee -9

Colorado at Nebraska -7.5 O/U 56

The Cornhuskers look to avenge their loss from last season, as Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes come to Lincoln. Colorado still has their elite skill duo of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter but they lack in the trenches. Nebraska is improved everywhere. Their defense returns a good amount of production, and the offense has already shown progress due to freshman phenom Dylan Raiola at quarterback. If Colorado struggled up front against NDSU, Nebraska should dominate on the line of scrimmage.

Nebraska -7.5

Texas Tech at Washington State -2.5 O/U 66

Who doesn’t love some College Football after dark? Texas Tech and Washington State combined for 122 points in week one against FCS opponents. They also gave up a combined 81 points. Enjoy the nightcap of a College Football Saturday with lots of points. The safe bet is the over.
