Mike Norvell- The Sun

The hottest seat in the country. Since going undefeated in the regular season of 2023, Florida State has gone 7-17 over the last two years. It seems Seminoles fans are getting restless. My gut tells me that Florida State needs to end the year ranked for Norvell to remain the coach next season.
Bill O’Brien – Getting Hot

It might not be “hot” right now, but it’s getting close. Bill O’Brien’s first year was okay by Boston College standards, going 7-5. However, last year was a complete dud, finishing with just two wins. Another losing season could get Bill packing, but a trip to a bowl game will give him more slack.
Bill Belichick – Getting Hot

Let’s face it, last year was a disaster for one of the greatest football coaches ever. The Tar Heels went 4-8 and looked completely lost for the majority of the year. UNC has the 16th-ranked recruiting class with 41 commits coming into 2026. Can that give them the boost to make a push to compete for the ACC Championship? It’s unlikely, but they need to show something, or Bill might be retired again.
Pat Narduzzi – Getting Hot

The “Nard Dog” has done some good things at Pitt. In 11 seasons as the Panther coach, he has a record of 80-61 and with an ACC Championship. However, besides a few bright moments, Pitt has mostly been mediocre. If the Panthers don’t make a push for the ACC title, the administration in Pittsburgh could be looking for a fresh start.
Dave Doeren – Warmish

Doeren is in a similar situation to Narduzzi. He did some good things at NC State, stabilized their program, and provided some fun moments for Wolfpack fans. However, some fans want a change. Averaging 8 wins a year isn’t bad, but after 13 years, it can get old. Doren did sign a contract extension until 2029. My guess is that it would really need to get ugly for them to give him his papers after this season.
Tony Elliot – Room Temperature

Tony Elliot led the Cavaliers to a breakout year, going 11-3, a good bowl win, and finishing 16th in the country. His job should be safe, but he did have 3 losing seasons previous to 2025. If UVA stays the course, his job is safe, but if they revert to missing a bowl game, things will be warm again.
