Time flies. We’re already here at the end of September for Week Four of the college football season. The power conferences have plenty of great contests to tune into, but college football doesn’t stop there. We’ve got you covered for some of the best games outside of the golden children of the broadcast networks. Let’s dive into some of the best under-the-radar games on the fourth college football Saturday of the year.
South Dakota at Youngstown State
How to Watch: Saturday, September 26th – 1:00 p.m. CT on ESPN+
Why You Should Watch: I know you think you’re seeing double here, but don’t worry, you aren’t. Last week saw Youngstown State and South Dakota State featured as an under-the-radar game. This week we have Youngstown State and South Dakota. Both squads are in the top 15 of the FCS ranks. Both teams figure into the chase for the Missouri Valley Football Conference championship. The Penguins are looking to bounce back after the loss last week to SDSU. I think they get it done here in a thriller.

How to Watch: Saturday, September 26th – 2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2
Why You Should Watch: Boise State’s lone loss of the season came to Oregon in a nail-biter. Western Michigan is undefeated (don’t fact-check this, if you know you know). This shapes up to be one of the best non-conference games in the G6 all season. The Bronco Bowl, as we’ve taken to calling it on the Get Back Coach, should be a hyper-physical matchup with an elite Western Michigan defense up against Boise State’s vaunted rushing attack. Boise is the favorite, but expect one hell of a fight from the defending MAC Champs.
New Mexico at New Mexico State
How to Watch: Saturday, September 26th – 2:30 p.m. CT on CBSSN
Why You Should Watch: The two FBS programs in the Land of Enchantment meet in the Battle of I-25 or the Rio Grande Rivalry, depending on who you ask. The rivalry never gets a ton of attention, as neither program is known for making big waves on the national stage. That doesn’t matter. College football is about hating your neighbor. The Lobos and Aggies despise each other. Regional rivalries make the world go round, and so even though New Mexico is favored by two scores, this is one worth checking in on this Saturday.

How to Watch: Saturday, September 26th – 9:00 p.m. CT on ESPN+
Why You Should Watch: Hello and welcome to the first of two Big Sky After Dark Bangers we’ll be highlighting this week. First up, FCS #5 Montana heads to #10 UC Davis as both programs look to make waves in the conference early in the Big Sky slate. The Grizzlies and Aggies both have one blemish on the record thanks to contests against FBS foes, but remain undefeated against FCS competition. The winner of this contest is set up nicely to challenge Montana State for the Big Sky crown. However, the Aggies do have the added benefit of missing Montana State on the conference schedule this year. That means this contest could make a massive difference in the conference standings at the end of the season.
Northern Arizona at Montana State
How to Watch: Saturday, September 26th – 9:00 p.m. CT on the CW
Why You Should Watch: Our second Big Sky After Dark Banger of the night sees #18 Northern Arizona head to #1 Montana State to take on the Bobcats in Bozeman. NAU’s 2-0 Big Sky start came courtesy of wins over Eastern Washington and Utah Tech. Now it’s time to see if the Lumberjacks are a real contender. On the other side of the matchup, Montana State suffered quite the scare against Central Connecticut State, winning just 35-30. Justin Lamson and company remain the FCS favorites at the moment, but they can’t afford another sloppy performance as we get into the heart of the conference schedule.
