Houston Roughnecks? Houston Roughnecks.
Straight off the oil rigs, please welcome your Houston Roughnecks. A Texan team who is as tough as they are tenacious, and don't know when to quit.#XFL2023 pic.twitter.com/VYBrI59GP0

A whole-ass global pandemic later, XFL football returns to Houston, Texas. The last time we saw the Houston Roughnecks playing football, this company was one month old, the world was “normal”, and the vibes were vibin at TDECU Stadium. The best way to describe what was going on at a Roughnecks game back in 2020 would be a rock show with a football game going on. And in 4 days we get to do it all over again.
A new ownership group led by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has brought back the XFL and Houston was chosen to host a team once again. The new-look Roughnecks, looking to repeat as champions, will be led by Wade Phillips. Look, I have no idea what to expect on Saturday but what I do know is that here in Texas, Football is religion. The other thing I know is, Wade Phillips is football royalty. There was no better decision than to hire him as your next Head Coach because at the very least you are going to have a fundamentally sound defense that plays with a lot of GRIT. I am excited football is back after a long 6-day drought; see y’all at the stadium.
