After a few series losses, the Astros look to get back on the right track against the Anaheim Angels of Los Angeles or whatever their team is called. Pick a city, am I right? Anyways, the pitching staff has clearly taken a hit after losing Luis Garcia for the season, and José Urquidy for the foreseeable future.
Hunter Brown, Framber Valdez, and Cristian Javier will take the bump in that order for this three game series against the Angels. The bullpen will need to improve it’s inconsistency if this pitching staff wants to look anything like it did in the 2022 campaign. In 2022, the injury bug stayed away for the most part, but that was last season. There are new hurdles within the team, but it’s still the Houston Astros, so I have full faith that they will return to dominance.
The Angels are in second place in the AL West with the Astros trailing by just a game and a half. With an Astros series win they could be knocking on the doorstep of the Texas Rangers for the AL West lead in no time. Jose Altuve started to swing a bat over the weekend, and Michael Brantley and Chas McCormick are set to join the team here in the next week or so.
The lineup is about to enter death lineup mode here in the coming weeks, let’s hope that the pitching staff can get back on a roll and let this Astros team start to steamroll through series like we are used to.
